Literacy Excellence
We implement a strong synthetic phonics program that explicitly teaches students how to read, write and spell with confidence. This structured approach ensures students develop essential early literacy skills that support lifelong learning.
Students are supported to strengthen their skills where needed, while also being challenged to extend their thinking and deepen their understanding. Our goal is for every child to develop a love of reading and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently.
Mathematics
Mathematics learning at our school is engaging, hands-on and meaningful. Students are encouraged to explore concepts through problem-solving, practical activities and real-world applications, helping them understand not just how mathematics works, but why it is important.
We focus on developing strong numeracy skills alongside positive learning dispositions such as persistence, curiosity, logical thinking and
collaboration. Students are supported to take risks, learn from mistakes and build confidence as capable mathematicians.
Wellbeing for Learning
Wellbeing is the foundation for successful learning and personal growth. When students feel safe, supported and valued, they are best placed to engage, achieve and thrive in all areas of their schooling.
We take a whole-school approach to wellbeing, ensuring that every child is known, cared for, and connected to a strong and supportive learning community.
This is embedded through positive relationships, consistent routines, and explicit teaching of social and emotional skills that help students navigate both learning and life.
Through this approach, students are supported to develop essential life skills, including the ability to:
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with others
- Manage challenges, emotions and change in positive ways
- Build confidence, independence and a strong sense of self
- Develop resilience, persistence and a growth mindset
Our staff work closely with students to model and teach these skills daily, helping them to build
strong foundations for both academic success and personal wellbeing.
When students feel safe, connected and supported, they are empowered to fully engage in their learning, achieve their goals, and flourish as confident, capable individuals.
Elective Learning Program
Belong · Explore · Become · in Action
A distinctive feature of our school is our weekly Elective Program, designed to give students genuine voice, choice, and ownership of their learning.
This program enriches the curriculum by providing engaging, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, develop new skills, and support personal growth.
By allowing students to choose from a variety of interest-based activities, we empower them to take responsibility for their learning and explore areas they are passionate about in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Students select from a range of engaging electives such as:
- Cooking and food preparation, where students develop practical life skills, teamwork, and an understanding of healthy choices
- Visual arts and creative expression, encouraging imagination, creativity, and self-expression
- Sport and physical activity, promoting teamwork, fitness, resilience, and fair play
- Building, design and technology, fostering problem-solving, design thinking, and hands-on construction skills
- Nature play and outdoor learning, supporting curiosity, environmental awareness, and wellbeing through connection with the natural world
Delivered in mixed-age groupings, the Elective Program provides valuable opportunities for students to build positive relationships across year levels, develop leadership skills and responsibility, collaborate, share ideas, and learn from peers of different ages.
This program is central to our school identity and brings our motto to life in meaningful ways.
Through this program, students are supported to discover strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills and attitudes that prepare them for future success.
